Not yet. We are told that in the new year there will be things we can order but nothing right now.

When my son called last week he told me he heard we'll be able to mail packages in February. But I'm not sure what we'll be able to send.

From what I understand The State of Texas will post information on the State's website for where to order packages. The packages program will not start until after 2012.

Knowing how Texas is I highly doubt they will use the conventional methods for packages.

When I saw my son on Saturday he told me the contract had been signed and will go into effect February first. He said there won't be any food items on the list of items to send but there will be clothing. He's had no luck buying insulated underwear so hopefully in February I can send him some.

I don't understand why there won't be any food items on the list? Is it because of the logistics of receiving food items through the mail and the storage facilities that would be needed in the mail room to keep the food until it can be handed to the inmates?
