Does any one know where I can send a care package from for my hubby who is currently serving time in a texas prison?
Any ideas as to what I can and cannot send him?
Thanks for all your help in advance.

Well, you personally cannot send him anything but letters, pictures & post cards. From the General Information Guide For Families & Friends, page 1:

"Items such as food, clothing, jewelry and toiletries may not be mailed to offenders. Individuals may not mail packages to offenders."

The guide has a lot of good stuff in it. Very informative:

What you CAN send him are books, magazines, newspaper subscriptions, writing tablets, crossword puzzles, etc. but they must be mailed from a commercial business. You order them and pay for them, and you give them your loved one's mailing address, and they send it for you.

    Such as....Books: Amazon.com, texasprisonbookstore.com, Borders Books, etc
Writing materials: Office Depot, Rosie's Graphics, etc.

We've sent books to our daughter from both Amazon.com & Borders.
For writing supplies we use Rosie's Graphics. She's right here in Texas, and EVERYTHING in her product offering is approved by TDCJ. She sends the order out the next day, prices are reasonable, and she prints the name & TDCJ # on each envelope for free. And that's a time saver for your loved one, as for every envelope they receive they have to print their name & TDCJ # on it.

Texas Prison Bookstore has a lot of good stuff they can send as well, although we've never used them:

Packages to inmates in Texas is fairly simple. Right now you can send books through a book store, paper and envelopes through a office supply. They are currently looking at a program where by you can order things from their store and have it delivered to them. The number to call to find out more about this program and where it is at legally is 936-437-4772.
