After I told my guy they denied my visitation he filed an informal complaint and a few days later the regional director of prisons reviewed and approved the visitation and sent me the letter I need to present to get in when I do go to visit. Lol - get married, that was my guy's advice too.

I Am going through the same thing with the South Carolina Dept of Corrections! I was arrested back in 1999 and even though its almost been 10 years they are saying you cant have anything on your record unless you are immediate family.I believe that visitation is part of rehabilation.Yes we made a mistake but that was along time ago they shouldnt hold that against us or our loved. If anyone knows steps to get the visitation approved without getting marries please let me know.

that will be real stupid to even get married while he is still in prison if it just gonna come to an anulment and you two love each other.

I went to visit my fiance back in feb or april, and what i had on was nice, them officers that was workin behind the desk seen what i had on and they didnt say anything to me until i was up and ready to go to the back to be searched, now one female officer was checking me and she seen that i had on some jeans on and by the design in them they had 2 little holes on both sides of my pants they wasnt even real big hole they ask me if i could put my fingers through them and it was just a little bit, it wasnt like he was gon put his whole hand up my pants so the officer told me to go and wait out in the waiting area and wait for the sargent to come, and when he came he even told me that i couldnt go in for a visit, man i was so heated i cryied so hard i was about to curse them out, i rode up there in the van that brings the family members to visit i had to stay on that van for 6 hours doing nothin.

Sorry to hear that, some prisons are very strict with their rules on visiting. Would have been a good idea to search some of the threads on here concerning visiting prior to going up, I think someone had mentioned before to take a extra pair of clothes just in case. You never know what CO will be up front and what type of mood they are in, better to be safe than sorry. I travel out of state to see my man so I always go up prepared, especially after the time I had to drive to the nearest Walmart and buy a sports bra so I could get in for a visit.

A friend of mine takes a overnight bag with an extra pair of clothing, sports bra, pair of sneakers and some scissors in case she has to cut anything off her pants (buckles, beads, etc.) that might cause the detector to go off. It's a hurting thing to get denied for a visit, hurts the inmate also because I'm sure they are somewhere sitting and waiting for their name to be called for the visit. Can't believe they are so petty, having no compassion!

Okay since everyone is talking about marriage here......if in a county jail is marriage something that can be done? And if so..how? Also if you decide to get married once they are in a prison how do you get a marriage license and how do you set it up to get married??

hi I'm new to this site and me and my fiance have been together for 3 years. I have been in the military for most of our relationship so its mostly been long distance. My man has been locked up for the past 8 months but he will be getting out in november. I want us to finally be together and get marrried but since I'm in the military we have to have a marriage license before he gets out in order for him to be here with me in Georgia. I know we have to have a proxy but do i need any other documents for this to happen and what are the first steps in doing this?

We were gonna get married anyways. We decided to marry in prison because for 1 we belong together and 2 he is very close to our grandbaby whom is 4 years old and with him not being married to me she was not allowed to visit. We decided to get married in prison so she can visit and we do not regret anything...If all could see both of there faces when I bring her to visit it is so precious!!! All she says is she wants to see grandpa Dennis "I'm gonna run to Grandpa and give him a big humungo hug"

You need to write the prison chapel to let him know you are not forced into this marrage and he needs to talk to chaplin and from there they will let you know exactly what you need to do..I got the marrage license because it only takes 1 person to get it then I had to call the minister to set the date up...I'm from Michigan and it was that simple.

Get ahold of the Chaplin where he is at and he can help you out.
