it is crazy with all the differences out there.... im with the NC CJ system and i am happy that my boo is in padoc and not ncdoc. The visits i have with him here would never happen in NC. The freedom, length frequency...omg...

One thing that is common is MONEY!!! MONEY talks. I work in the court system. And I see every mon to fri the poor defense most poor people/inmates get. Court appointned atty's/public defenders only put forth as much effort as there paycheck and since many states have a severe budget crunch right now it is at times months before they are paid. i feel like they treat there clients as an after thought because it takes so long to get there $$. Also, atty's who would never take a court appointment in the past are racing to get on the court appointment list because of the economy, not to many can afford to get a lawyer on there own.

The saying "Justice for all" is so not true

So the question is "WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT"? To what extent can any of these changes or situations be done to make it better for everyone? How can we as concerned citizens, family members, wifes/husbands, mothers, sisters, brothers, friends ect., do to make things consistant for everyone? That is really the real question.

The real problem is they were breaking the law, the sad truth is they have to pay for it someway the why question is Why do they break the law again when they get out to have to go back. I do not understand why some get more time than others for the same crime but do know that suposably there is a way to compare crimes that are the same and they have to change the time to match the smaller time limit but I do not hear anything about people doing this and following through with it. That is probably where the money issue comes in. But it shouldn't have to be that way, it should lay on the court to just do their job they are getting paid good money to be there working for the judicial system. Most inmates need to just do their time and get out and go on living! Some do need to get appeals and some shouldn't be there.

i dont need it to be a paid vacation by the state.. i do however want him to be able to sleep in peace, eat in peace, not worry about an officer beating him "Because he can" i do want him to be treated HUMAN rather than as a piece of crap known only by a number to the DOC because that NUMBER has a family THAT LOVES HIM UNCONDITIONALLY AND WANTS HIM HOME...

what can we do about it? make a rucuous.. VOTE... WRITE OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS... write newspapers ediitors ... bring attention to the ones that go nelgelected.. Yes , I know that many will say thatS what they get for doing a crime.. but I say... HOW MANY OF OUR INMATES HAVE BEEN FOUND NOT GUILTY AFTER DNA AND NEW EVIDIENCE SURFACES.... not millions but enough to know that something is not right with our justice system... the state doesnt have to prove thier case anymore, just take it 2 trial and thier assumed guilty b4 the trial even starts...

We Like To read Everyone's 2 cents on different issues and believe me there are more than two views!

It gets us going and gives us something to comment too, whether the comment was a popular one or not!

Default A Few More Words On Being Consistant...

My husband was denied his Good Time and my attention was directed on that particular message. So, I read the thread and someone wanted support from anyone and everyone who would be interested in contacting there State Reps. to support the "GOOD TIME BILL". I did contact the State Rep. and he did not e-mailed me back instead I got a auto-reply. So, I called his office and left a message requesting that I get information about the progress of the effort of the Bill as well as I left it open to his office that I would do anything to offer what ever I could to support the effort period! No one has acknowledged me yet!! So I went on line and went to Michigan Votes - Michigan Legislation and Voting Record - Bills, Roll Calls, and the Michigan Legislature and registered and looked up the bill myself which they were refering to #4263 and 4497 house bill re: Good Time. I really didn't get my answers to my questions there and I surely didn't see what progress or stage the bill was in at that site. So I searched other supportive ning web-sites like T.I.M.E, and state sites like Michigan.gov ect. And I found nothing. In my previous thread, I wrote about and posed a question that I hoped it would spark some fire to someone who really wanted to support some real issues and I would certainly support the efforts to really do something about them. I have never lead a political fight and I have certainly never thought that with out the "It's not want you know, it's Who you know" attitude nothing really happens. So with that thought, now I have a husband who is in prison and I am so angry inside; I now want to do anything that is in his best interest to bring him closer to come home. Somethings are just easier said than done. I do know for a fact that it takes a hell of a researcher to bring out stong points to the right person's attention on strong issues. I want my voice to be heard and I want progress and results. But who will hear just me alone. Where are those people who want things to really change?

Ok, they have to do time for the mistake they made but they are human, my husband is in the TDJC Beto Unit, and I have heard the good, bad, ugly and funny stories while he has been there, if there was away I could send my husband a care package it would make his life a little better, we know it's not a vacation and trust me I don't feel that the money we pay in taxes are truly being used correctly anyway.....

I was just having a conversation with a cousin about child support. I don't get their logic. If they get locked up from non-payment and you blemish their record how are they supposed to find work to pay this money. They will just keep locking you up and mess up your entire life for no reason at all. Then if you love the man and want to be with him, they come after your pay check. If you don't pay, you are the one that will get locked up. Now that is just insane. Where is the justice in that? Now some women work out agreements or whatever with their baby daddies. But then you have those women who press the issue and the man gets locked up but you aren't getting paid any money anyway. You want the man to help pay or give money but the ones that are trying to get there gets punished and its like a long road before they can get any help or staying out of jail. If you have more than 2 kids and make about 7.25 and hour that man can't live off that unless he lives with his mother or someone else. I just don't get it.. The system is so messed up.
