Lightbulb Consistancy ???

I was just thinking about how it's not really fair that every state makes it's own rules. I mean, in some states they allow over nite visits where the inmate and spouse can have some normalcy, others do not. Some allow you to ship care packages, others do not. Some will give you 3 yrs for robbery while others will give you life... it's just crazy.. makes you think, dayum why couldnt we live in such and such state if he's gonna go to prison.

some states give more time off for good behavior while other's do not.. I just think for our's to be THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, why do we have so many of our men and women, heck even children, locked up behind bars, many for non-violent crimes, things like CHILD SUPPORT (WHICH YES THEY SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR NOT PAYING, BUT IF THIER IN PRISON WHO'S PAYING?) AND DRIVING WITHOUT A LICESNSE..

THE AMERICAN JUSTICE SYSTEM TO THE DOC OF EACH STATE, ALL NEED A COMPLETE OVERHAUL, AND SOME CONSISTANCY WOULD REALLY HELP....

THAT'S JUST MY 2 CENTS...

Yeah i must agree with you there it really is crazy some of the situations in the legal systems like here in Kansas there was a Year ago a 19 year old boy shot twice in the back of his head after a fight with some other men that was at a party , and while this 19 year old was leaving they shot him twice in the back of the head an they called it manslaughter an they well he the one who pulled the trigger only got 4 years well not even 4 years 41 mos ..,, or like when a man went in to rob a liquor store an the clerk ended up shooting the robber , but then the robber ended up some how suing for damages and one the case ... The system is unreal.....

Just came across this last night. Believe me I know what rob did was bad, but in New Mexico a Man who did the same thing (or should I call him something else) got four in a half years probation. Not ten years locked up. I feel pretty bad because article stated it was the victims opinion that helped him. I didn't go to rob's sentencing because of his new "lady". Before I found about that I did want to try and keep him out. Oops. Dint know he'd get ten. But ya it should be the same in every state. I agree. And when I see that some states don't have jpay I feel bad they don't have the same opportunity as other's and care packages also. It's just different culture, different people with different opinions and thoughts is what makes things happen. Before someone I cared about got incarcerated I could have probably cared less. Now I hope that he would have some of the same ammenities that a better place might have.

Lightbulb Yea! Lets be Consistant!!!

That forum to me is all talk and no action. We are all here to vent and say what's on our minds. We are all her because someone has affected our lives with our loved ones situation being in prison one way or another. However, it would be very nice to have our prison system "CONSISTANT" with all levels of convienient patterns of services and accomdations that would make not only our loved ones lives pleasant but, it would make our lives sooo much better and convienient. So the question is "WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT"? To what extent can any of these changes or situations be done to make it better for everyone? How can we as concerned citizens, family members, wifes/husbands, mothers, sisters, brothers, friends ect., do to make things consistant for everyone? That is really the real question.

My guess is the prison systems job isn't to make our loved ones lives "pleasant" They are in prison for a crime, not a vacation paid for by the state. Sad but true
