Hi, I'm sorry to here that your Son is in there.. My BF is there also. And to answer your question.. YES, sending email through JPay is definitly worth it. My BF has never waited more than 24 hours to get a letter from me. Most of his letters are given to him, the same day. I think the earlier you write, the better chance they have on getting it that day, if not, he should get it no later than the next day, unless it's a weekend. Yes, puzzle books are good to send too. I sent him 3 regular books, to occupy his time and one big puzzle book with lots of different puzzles in it. I ordered the books through Amazon.. but you can also order through, Wal-Mart, Barnes and Noble and some others. If you do decide to order from Amazon, make sure the supplier who you are ordering the book from is Amazon. If it's from another vendor on that site, the book will get sent back. As far as setting up a phone account for him.. he should have been giving a phone list to fill out when he first got there.. he could add any numbers he want to that list, then he's assigned a pin number, which usually takes 2 to 3 weeks before his pin is set up and ready to use. During that time, he won't be able to call you, not even collect.. he's gotta have a pin number to use the phone. He can ask to be put on a list to use the phone on the inside too. He doesn't need his pin activated for that. My BF did that, but was unable to call anyone when his name came up, because everyone out here either have blocks on their phone or has a cell phone. If you send money to him now, he can add some of that to his phone card, once his pin is set up. Yes, they are locked up 23 hours a day there and only get 1 hour out for yard, and when yard time comes up, everyone runs to the phones.. to call home.. So, getting to a phone could be a challange.. I do suggest buying stamps through JPay and writing him as much as possible, until he gets his books/puzzles from you. This will help him with his time because it's very boring in there for them with nothing to do all day..
